San Diego Police identified a 28-year-old man who was shot and killed outside a residence in Logan Heights earlier this week.

Jason Coney was mortally wounded in the 2200 block of Ocean View Boulevard around 9:15 p.m. Tuesday, according to San Diego Police homicide Lt. Paul Rorrison. Officers found him lying the front yard of a residence and paramedics took him to UCSD, where he died a short time later, Rorrison said in a statement.

“The preliminary investigation revealed witnesses hearing an argument between several people prior to the sound of multiple gunshots,” he said. “Several black and Hispanic males were seen running from the scene. One suspect assailant is described as a Hispanic male wearing a brown plaid shirt, armed with a handgun.”

Anyone with information about the shooting was asked to call San Diego County Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477. Tipsters can choose to remain anonymous.
