A 46-year-old man was behind bars today for allegedly running down a woman in Lemon Grove then speeding off, only to return and surrender an hour later.
Guillermo Alvarado-Soler was booked into jail on suspicion of hit and run causing death around 12:45 a.m., according to the sheriff’s department and jail records.
Alvarado-Soler was suspected of striking a woman who may have been jogging along Massachusetts Avenue near Mount Vernon Street about 7:40 p.m. Saturday, according to San Diego County Sheriff Sgt. Michelle McPhail.
She died at the scene, and her name was not immediately available.
McPhail said the uninjured driver initially left the scene, but returned and was taken into custody about an hour later.
