A woman threatened to jump from the San Diego-Coronado Bay Bridge at sunrise Sunday, and the bridge was blocked by police for more than four hours.
San Diego police crisis negotiators coaxed her to surrender shortly after 10:30 a.m., San Diego police Officer Dan Lasher said.
Police were tipped off to the apparently suicidal woman on the state Route 75 bridge shortly before 6 a.m., according to the officer.
Officers temporarily shut down the bridge in both directions and traffic to and from the island was rerouted via Imperial Beach. It was reopened shortly after the woman came down.
Also closed were three ramps on Interstate 5: the 28th Street northbound onramp, the 17th Street southbound onramp and the southbound freeway exit to Cesar Chavez Parkway, Caltrans said. But lanes were being reopened as of 10:45, the state transit agency said.
