A suspected drunken motorist suffered a broken pelvis, jaw and ribs Saturday night when his vehicle went over a center divider in Rancho Penasquitos, hit a tree and overturned.

His passenger, a 24-year-old woman, escaped with no injuries during the crash in the 12400 block of Black Mountain Road, which occurred a little after 8:20 p.m., according to a news statement from the San Diego Police Department.

The 24-year-old motorist was driving a Nissan Altima northbound on Black Mountain Road when it veered to the left, went over the center divider, hit a tree and overturned, according to the statement.

Paramedics rushed him to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
