Twice since December, someone broke into the Valley Center Branch Library and stole pretty much everything but the books. Mainly tech gear.
Now San Diego County Crime Stoppers and investigators from the Valley Center Sheriff’s Substation want the public’s help to find the thieves — and offering a reward up to $1,000.
Sometime between 8 p.m. Dec. 24 and 8:45 a.m. Dec. 26, 2014, someone gained entry into the library at 14147 Horse Creek Trail, authorities said Wednesday.
Reported stolen were a mobile iPad charging station, a black digital Nikon DX camera, a red digital Canon camera, a dark gray Safeguard safe containing about $200 in cash and 10 white iPads with individual cases.
The thief also stole the keys to the library and to the Valley Center History Museum located adjacent to the library, authorities said. The loss was valued at about $6,600.
On Jan. 27, a library employee noticed that the library had been burglarized again. Someone gained access to a storage room and took the following items: a black Aspire laptop, a gray Dell Latitude laptop, a black Epson projector, a 42-inch Insignia television, an Insignia Blu-ray player, two PlayStation 2 game consoles, a white Xbox game console, a DVD/Disc player, several paintings, sculptures and art pieces.
The total loss in the second burglary was about $8,000, authorities said.
