A 19-year-old man who was among a group brawling with bats in a parking lot in San Diego’s El Cerrito neighborhood suffered serious but survivable injuries Wednesday when he was struck by an SUV and dragged 20 feet.
About 10 men were fighting with baseball bats in the parking lot of the Northgate Market in the 5400 block of University Avenue about 8:10 p.m. when a blue or green SUV bore down on them, said San Diego police Officer Robert Heims.
The group scattered, except for the victim, he said.
After hitting the young man, the SUV, which had four people inside, left the parking lot, headed in an unknown direction, Heims said.
The driver was described only as a man with a skinny face and wearing a black baseball cap and black shirt, Heims said.
