A scruffy man with his face covered by a painter’s mask robbed an East County bank Wednesday, authorities said.
The thief, who appeared to be in his late 40s or 50s, handed a demand note to a teller at the Bank of America branch office in the 1400 block of Main Street in Ramona about 11:15 a.m, according to the FBI.
The written message specified that the bandit wanted 20-, 50- and 100- dollar bills only, the federal agency reported.
The robber, who did not speak during the heist, fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money in an unknown direction.
Witnesses described him as a roughly 5-foot-6-inch, 155-pound white man with an unkempt appearance. He was wearing jeans, a long-sleeved white shirt, prescription glasses and a stocking cap.
