A man sleeping in a vehicle that was reported stolen was arrested Thursday morning in Santee after deputies rousted him and found drugs and stolen items.

Deputies responded about 7:25 a.m. to the 7000 block of Mariposa Street to investigate a man sleeping in a vehicle, said Sgt. Daniel Morsch of the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.

“The deputies learned the vehicle was reported stolen so they contacted and detained the occupant, 30-year-old Shawn Wood,” Morsch said.

“There was a lot of property in the vehicle, including power and carpentry tools which were stolen. The recovered property was from at least five vehicle or residential burglaries.”

Methamphetamine, heroin and drug paraphernalia were also found inside the vehicle, Morsch said.

Wood was booked on suspicion of multiple counts of burglary, possession of stolen property, vehicle theft and drug possession.
