A 23-year-old man was in custody Tuesday in San Diego, accused of interjecting himself in a fight between a 25-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman at a transit center and stabbing the man in the head, police said.

The stabbing in the 4000 block of University Avenue was reported at 10:49 p.m. Monday, according to San Diego Police Officer Dino Delimitros.

Emanual Fredrick, a transient, was booked on suspicion of felony assault with a deadly weapon, San Diego police Officer Humberto Hernandez said. He was held on $30,000 bail and scheduled to be in court in San Diego Thursday, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.

The 25-year-old man, whose name was withheld, was stabbed in the head above his left eye, Delimitros said.
