An early morning electrical fire at a South Oceanside home left three people displaced and caused about $150,000 in damage.

Residents of the single-story home at 1626 S. Ditmar St. smelled smoke around 1:15 a.m., called 911 and were able to get out safely before fire crews arrived, according to Battalion Chief Terry Collis of the Oceanside Fire Department.

Arriving firefighters spotted smoke from the electrical fire that started in a wall and spread to the attic, Collis said.

Around 20 firefighters from Oceanside, Carlsbad and Vista had the blaze under control in just under a half hour, Collis said.

Collis said the fire left two adults and a child displaced.
