A four-acre brush fire in an Oceanside river bed that left one firefighter with a minor injury was sparked accidentally by someone trimming weeds in the area.

The fire near North River and Sleeping Indian roads was reported at 2:42 p.m. Thursday and under control by 3:40 p.m., according to the Oceanside Fire Department.

“The fire was accidentally started by a weed trimmer that hit a rock and caused a spark to ignite dry brush,” a department statement said.
