A young man and a teenage boy were wounded in a shooting in Escondido Saturday, which police said was likely gang-related.

Police officers found the first victim, a 23-year-old man, lying in the roadway in the vicinity of North Grape Street and East Washington Avenue shortly after 6 a.m., Escondido police Lt. Mike Kearney said.

About an hour after the wounded man was taken to a hospital, another gunshot victim — a 17-year-old boy — showed up there seeking treatment, Kearney said.

Kearney said both victims were somewhat uncooperative with police, but Gang Investigations Unit detectives had launched an investigation.
