Authorities released the name Friday of a man who was struck and fatally injured by a car and an SUV as he jaywalked on an El Cajon street.
Charles Peralta, 57, was trying to cross the 800 block of Avocado Avenue between intersections when the vehicles hit him in quick succession shortly before 5:30 p.m. Thursday, according to police.
Peralta, an El Cajon resident, died at the scene.
Both motorists immediately stopped and cooperated with investigators, Lt. Randy Soulard said.
“The speed of the involved vehicles at the time of the (accident) is still being determined,” the lieutenant said this morning.
