A water main break left dozens of North Park residences temporarily without functional plumbing Tuesday.
The failure of the 6-inch-diameter concrete pipeline knocked out water service to the 4500 block of Illinois Street in the late morning, city officials said.
The ruptured main caused an overflow that inundated the roadway for just under an hour, starting about 9:15 a.m., according to the San Diego Water Department. No structural flooding was reported.
The city sent “water wagons” to the neighborhood to serve the affected residents pending repairs, which were expected to be complete by late afternoon, SDWD spokesman Arian Collins said.
