Authorities are searching for the mother of two full-term fetuses found dead Friday outside a church in Fallbrook, a San Diego Sheriff’s lieutenant said.

At around 1:40 p.m., a caller reported what appeared to be two full-term fetuses wrapped inside a blanket outside an address at the 1700 block of St. Peters Drive, Lt. John Maryon said.

Homicide detectives determined the dead fetuses to be around 20 weeks or older, each with its own umbilical cord attached to one placenta, he said.

The Sheriff’s Department is asking for anyone’s help in locating the mother — someone who is recently pregnant and does not have babies to show for it, Maryon said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Homicide Detail at (858) 974-2321 or Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.

The Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the cause of death.
