It’s OK to ring in the New Year tonight with a bang, just don’t do it with a gun, National City Police Department warned Wednesday.
“Don’t fire a gun in celebration,” the NCPD warned, adding that scofflaws would be arrested.
People hit by falling bullets have been killed.
“Reports of gunfire will be taken seriously and officers will respond appropriately,” police said. “While our goal is not to dampen the spirit of celebration, anyone engaged in the illegal discharge of a firearm will be arrested.”
Police urged people to report gunfire by calling National City police at (619) 336-4411. Tipsters can remain anonymous.
