San Diego police are investigating a traffic accident in University City Monday that left a 44-year-old man visiting from Texas clinging to life.

The man was struck by a vehicle in the intersection of La Jolla Village and Lebon drives around 11 p.m., according to San Diego Police Sgt. Brad O’Donnell.

Paramedics took him to a hospital so he could be treated for a “serious life-threatening head injury,” O’Donnell said in a statement.

The driver, a 30-year-old woman, remained at the scene, according to the sergeant, who said alcohol was not a factor in the accident.
