Authorities Monday released the name of a 51-year-old jogger who was killed when an SUV swerved onto a sidewalk on an ocean-front roadway in Carlsbad.
Nicole Lynch of Carlsbad was struck by a 1998 Ford Expedition on the sidewalk alongside northbound Carlsbad Boulevard, north of Tamarack Avenue, around 7:15 a.m. Sunday, according to Carlsbad Police and the county Medical Examiner’s Office.
She died en route to Tri-City Medical Center in Oceanside.
The driver, a 52-year-old Oceanside man whose name was not released, was not immediately cited or arrested in connection with the crash. Following an investigation, the case will be forwarded to the District Attorney’s Office, which will determine what, if any, charges will be filed, said Carlsbad police Lt. Mickey Williams.
Alcohol or drugs were not suspected factors in the crash, Williams said.
