A probationer who refused to yield for a traffic stop in Tierrasanta on Monday led the California Highway Patrol on a 20-minute chase over four freeways before pulling over with flattened tires and getting arrested.
The pursuit began shortly after 11 a.m. on state Route 52, near Mast Boulevard, according to the CHP.
The motorist, later identified as Casey Alan Rios, 26, fled at speeds in the 90s to the east, then continued along southbound SR-125, westbound SR-94 and northbound Interstate 805, the CHP said.
Near SR-163, the man ran over a tire-flattening spike strip that officers had placed in his path. He pulled over a short distance away, just north of Balboa Avenue, CHP public-affairs Officer Robert Catano said.
Rios was handcuffed and taken into custody without further incident. He was booked into the San Diego Central Jail on suspicion of evading police, driving on a suspended license and violating terms of his probation.
