Eight people were without a place to live Monday following a non-injury fire that caused $300,000 at a condominium complex in Del Cerro, according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.

The blaze was reported around 9:40 p.m. Sunday in a complex at 6878 Navajo Road, the SDFRD’s Lee Swanson said. Responding firefighters saw flames coming out of a front door of a unit, Swanson said.

He said that even though the fire was extinguished quickly, there was extensive fire damage to one unit. Neighboring units also had some fire and smoke damage, he said. The SDFRD estimated damage to be $300,000.

The American Red Cross is assisting four adults who lived in the unit where the blaze broke out. Four adults in the adjoining condos were also displaced, but did not require assistance, Swanson said.

He said the cause was determined to be accidental.
