A man wanted in connection with two recent stabbing assaults and auto theft was arrested Thursday following a short police pursuit through Clairemont, authorities reported.
A patrol officer spotted Anthony Stromoski, 29, driving a stolen Chevrolet van and pulled him over in the area of Cole Street and Conrad Avenue shortly before 1:30 p.m., according to San Diego police.
The suspect initially yielded, then drove off again, prompting a chase that lasted several minutes, SDPD spokesman Humberto Hernandez said.
Stromoski allegedly fled to the southwest toward Interstate 5 before crashing the vehicle into a curb, disabling it. He then jumped out and made a failed attempt to escape on foot. He was arrested on Caminito Arenoso, near Caminito Plomada, Hernandez said.
The suspect was being sought for allegedly stabbing his ex-girlfriend in a leg while driving through Mission Valley on Nov. 20 and knifing a man in the chest in the Bay Ho area this week, according to police.
Stromoski, believed to be a transient, was expected to be booked on suspicion of attempted murder and other charges.
