A power outage left about 2,300 homes and businesses in the dark in the Sorrento Valley, Torrey Pines and University City areas Monday evening.
The blackout began shortly after 6 p.m., according to San Diego Gas & Electric. The utility estimated that power would be restored to all affected addresses by midnight.
The cause of the problem was not immediately clear, SDG&E reported.
