An employee of a private patrol service was injured in a hit-and-run accident on a Mountain View-area street Monday afternoon while directing traffic for a funeral procession.
The victim was hit by a vehicle at Imperial Avenue and South 45th Street shortly before 1 p.m., according to San Diego police.
Following the crash, the driver of the car got out and ran off to the south, SDPD public-affairs Officer Humberto Hernandez said. The motorist remained at large as of late afternoon.
Medics took the motorcyclist to a trauma center for treatment of apparently nonlife-threatening arm, back and head injuries.
The victim was helping direct traffic for a funeral motorcade at the time of the crash, witnesses told reporters.
