Chula Vista police warned the public Thursday about a man who broke into a woman’s apartment while she was sleeping and rubbed her buttocks.

The man broke into the woman’s apartment at 72 Sandalwood Drive about 6:15 a.m. Wednesday, according to Chula Vista Police Sgt. Matt Smith.

“As she escaped the bedroom, the victim noticed the suspect was still in her apartment attempting to hide,” Smith said. “The victim alerted her spouse who called the police.”

The suspect then casually walked out of the victim’s home toward Bonita Glen Drive, Smith said, adding that he was may have been spotted standing by an adjacent apartment a few minutes later wearing different clothing.

When confronted, the suspect ran toward Bonita Glen Drive, Smith said.

Police described the suspect as a thin black man in his early 30s, about 6 feet tall with a medium complexion.

Anyone with more information about the crime was asked to call Chula Vista Police at (619) 691-5151 or Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
