An investigation was under way Wednesday in San Diego’s Stockton neighborhood, where a 24-year-old man opened his front door and was stabbed by a man on the stoop, police said.

The stabbing at 3234 J St. was reported at 8:16 p.m. Tuesday, according to San Diego police Officer Dino Delimitros.

The assailant knocked on the door and stabbed the victim two times in his side after he opened the door, Delimitros said in a statement. The motive was not immediately clear.

The victim’s wounds were not life-threatening, according to Delimitros, who said officers were looking for a Hispanic man in his 20s, about 5 feet 7, wearing a black hoodie and black pants.
