Border Patrol agents at the Interstate 5 checkpoint on Sunday arrested a woman driving a 2002 Mercedes-Benz stuffed with over $200,000 worth of methamphetamine.
The agency said the 55-year-old driver arrived at the checkpoint near San Clemente at 4 p.m. Agents referred the vehicle for a secondary inspection, where a K-9 sniff of the green sedan resulted in an alert.
Agents searched and found eight bundles of meth inside the left and right rear quarter panels of the car. The meth weighed 20.39 pounds and has an estimated street value of $203,900.
The woman was arrested and turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration. The vehicle was seized by the Border Patrol.
