A pedestrian was struck and killed by a car while crossing a street Friday evening in El Cajon.
Shortly after 7 p.m., a 44-year-old man was walking eastbound across Second Street at Marline Avenue, police said, when a car driving north on Second Street hit him.
The pedestrian, who suffered significant injuries to his head and body, was transported to the hospital, Lieutenant Greg Robertson said, where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The driver of the vehicle, a male in his 50s, and the passengers were not injured, police said.
The identity of the pedestrian will be released by the San Diego Coroner’s Office once the family has been notified, police said.
