A young woman was rushed to the hospital in critical condition early Friday after she fell from the roof of a five-story building near San Diego State University in an apparent alcohol-fueled accident, police said.

The fall in the 5000 block of Lindo Paseo was reported just before 4 a.m., said San Diego Police Officer Frank Cali.

Paramedics took the woman to the hospital, he said, adding that it was not immediately clear whether she was expected to survive, though her condition was listed as “critical.”

It was also not immediately clear whether she was an SDSU student, though she was believed to be about 18-20 years old, he said.

The woman was with a friend on the roof just prior to the fall and alcohol was involved in the incident, Cali said, adding that it appeared to have been an accidental fall.
