Sheriff’s homicide detectives were investigating the suspicious death Saturday of a Spring Valley woman. She had visible signs of traumatic injury and was treated by paramedics before being taken to a local hospital, where she died.

Sheriff’s homicide Lt. John Maryon said deputies from the Rancho San Diego Sheriff’s Station responded to an assist call from firefighters to a residence in the 9100 block of Circulo Margen.

“When deputies arrived, paramedics were performing CPR on the victim, Victoria Lynn Lyman, 22,” Maryon said. “She was transported to Grossmont Hospital where, despite the efforts of the paramedics and hospital staff, she was pronounced dead.”

“It is not known at this time if those injuries contributed to her death,” Maryon said. “But due to the visible injuries, sheriff’s homicide detail responded.”

An investigation was continuing with the aid of the Rancho San Diego Sheriff’s Station and the sheriff’s crime laboratory.

The cause and manner of Lyman’s death will be determined by the Medical Examiner.
