A motorist crashed into a Coronado fire hydrant early Thursday, injuring himself and causing it to spew water for about 30 minutes, police said.
The accident on Orange Avenue, near C Street, occurred about 6 a.m., according to Coronado police.
The driver was taken to a hospital, police said. The extent of the his injuries was unclear.
Though water flooded the street for a half-hour, there were no immediate reports of damage to nearby structures.
