A 23-year-old man was killed as his speeding motorcycle crashed into the back of a farm truck in Oceanside Saturday.
Police were dispatched about 7:35 a.m. to the 5600 block of North River Road where a 911 caller reported the motorcyclist was not breathing following a crash, Oceanside Police Sgt. Ignacio Lopez said.
Emergency crews declared the man dead at the scene and notified the Medical Examiner‘s office.
Both the motorcycle and agricultural truck had been headed west on North River Road, west of Holly Lane and approaching Sleeping Indian Road, Lopez said.
The truck slowed to make a left turn onto a service road in a field, and as it began the turn the motorcycle crashed into the right rear portion of the truck, ejecting and killing the man.
“The driver of the agricultural truck was interviewed on scene and released,” Lopez said. “Based on the preliminary investigation it does not appear that alcohol was a factor in the collision; however, it appears that speed may have been.”
