A man died at a hospital Sunday after he was pulled unconscious from the water at an Oceanside beach.
Emergency personnel from the Oceanside Fire Department were dispatched at 9:36 a.m. to Oceanside City Beach in the 1600 block of South Pacific Street near Cassidy Street, Battalion Chief Felipe Rodriguez said. The department was told that an unconscious person was pulled from the water.
“Lifeguards arrived and found bystanders performing CPR on an unidentified male, in his 20s, at the water’s edge,” Rodriguez said. “Lifeguards and bystanders moved the man from the water’s edge to dry sand were lifeguards took over CPR and applied a defibrillator to try to revive the man.”
The man was taken by ambulance to Tri-City Medical Center where he later died, Rodriguez said. The initial investigation showed his drowning appeared to be an accident.
