A 60-year-old man was killed Friday when the bicycle he was riding collided with a pickup truck in Chula Vista, police said.
Officers responded just after 3 p.m. to the 800 block of Hilltop Drive, according to the Chula Vista Police Department.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Both the vehicle and bicycle were southbound, with the bike on the edge of the roadway, when the rider made a sharp left turn in front of the truck, according to police.
The driver swerved in an attempt to avoid a collision, but the pickup struck the bike, police said.
The crash is not believed to be alcohol-related, but an investigation is continuing, police said.
The victim’s name was not immediately released.
