Authorities announced a $3,500 reward Tuesday for information on the whereabouts of a San Marcos resident who was 16 when he went missing in Borrego Springs nearly five years ago.

Mickey Guidry vanished the day after Thanksgiving in 2009, after spending a night with friends at a campground on Split Mountain Road, according to sheriff’s officials. His Jeep Grand Cherokee was found stuck in sand, abandoned and inoperable near Pinion Mountain.

Guidry was described as white and 5 feet 9 inches tall, with brown hair and blue eyes. At the time of his disappearance, he weighed about 155 pounds.
