The Rincon del Diablo Municipal Water District on Sunday evening lifted its boil water order for most customers in the parts of Escondido that it serves.
The order was lifted at 8:30 p.m. for all areas except for five streets with some 60 residential customers.
The areas still under the order because of coliform bacteria are Caraway Street south of Country Club Lane, Jana Place, Sonia Place, Via Alexandra, and Via Scott.
“The boil order was put in place late Friday afternoon after water sample test results showed the presence of Coliform bacteria in one part of the system,” said Greg Thomas, Rincon Water’s general manager.
Approximately 6,300 water connections, including Palomar Medical Center, were initially affected by this boil water order, the utility aidd.
“The presence of coliform bacteria has been isolated to a very specific area,” said Thomas. “The source of the bacteria has not yet been identified. The investigation is continuing and we are focusing on getting these five streets off the boil order as soon as possible.”
“We want to thank our customers, neighboring water agencies, health officials, and the media for providing support and cooperation during the boil order,” he said.
