An investigation was underway Wednesday into the slaying of a woman  in Spring Valley by a man who then apparently tried to commit suicide, authorities said.

Sheriff’s deputies responding to a report of a death at a home in the 500 block of Parkbrook Street near Elkelton Boulevard at about 6:45 p.m. Tuesday found a man inside with self-inflicted lacerations on his wrists, said San Diego County Sheriff’s Lt. Glenn Giannantonio.

The woman’s body was found in another room and “had signs of traumatic injuries,” Giannantonio said.

The suspect was hospitalized for treatment of his injuries and was then taken into custody on his release, Giannantonio said.

The names of the victim and suspect were not immediately released.
