A transgender man in his 20s became the ninth person to bring allegations of sexual misconduct against former San Diego police Officer Christopher Hays, it was reported Wednesday.
The unnamed victim’s attorney, Gregory Schnitzer, told San Diego 6 his client was dressed as a woman on Dec. 17 when Hays directed him into an alley off El Cajon Boulevard, accused him of solicitation and said he could perform oral sex or be arrested. The victim complied under duress, according to the television station.
Last month, Schnitzer filed a claim against the city seeking unspecified damages.
Hays’ attorney has denied the allegations against his client, CBS 8 reported.
Hays, 30, was charged in February with two counts of felony false imprisonment and three counts of misdemeanor sexual battery in connection with four women allegedly victimized between October and December last year.
The four-year veteran of the San Diego Police Department resigned from the police department day after the charges were filed and remains free on $130,000 bail.
Four other women came forward with allegations of sexual misconduct against Hays dating back to August 2012, San Diego 6 reported.
The former Marine and married father of two, whose father-in-law is Assistant San Diego Police Chief Mark Jones, was set to go to trial Nov. 10. Deputy District Attorney Annette Irving told San Diego 6 Hays faces a maximum sentence of five years and two months in prison if convicted.
