California Highway Patrol officials Saturday asked for witnesses in a Fourth of July crash on Interstate 15 that sent three young girls to the hospital, one with major injuries.
The crash was at 1:09 p.m. Friday on southbound I-15 approaching State Route 52, CHP officials said.
An Escondido man, 32, was driving a 1995 Toyota 4Runner and said he was driving in the freeway’s far-left lane and traveling about 65 to 70 miles per hour when he felt the right rear of the vehicle sink, CHP officials said. The vehicle then entered the center median, hit the center divider and rolled onto its roof.
Three little girls were injured in the accident and taken to Rady Children’s Hospital, CHP officials said. A 6-year-old girl suffered major injuries, her uncle was the driver.
His two children, girls aged 5 and 9, suffered moderate injuries.
No other vehicle was involved. Officers asked anyone who might have witnessed the crash is to contact Officer Lowry of the San Diego CHP office at (619) 220-5492.
