A young man was jailed Friday after he allegedly stabbed his mother and younger brother at their apartment near Parkway Plaza mall in El Cajon, killing the woman and leaving the teen hospitalized.
Officers responding to a 1 a.m. report of a family dispute in the 500 block of Ballantyne Street found the mortally wounded mother on a staircase.
The woman, 39, died at the scene, Lt. Frank La Haye of the El Cajon police said.
Her younger son, 14, was found in a parking lot at the complex, also suffering from serious stab wounds. Medics took him to a trauma center. His condition was not immediately released.
Officers arrested Mohammed Raad Agab, 20, on suspicion of carrying out the assaults on his family members, La Haye said.
Police disclosed no suspected motive for the stabbings.
