Authorities warned the public Thursday to beware of an unidentified man who harassed two schoolgirls in a neighborhood near Lake Murray last week and may have done likewise in other local communities.
The man drove up alongside the children, ages 11 and 12, as they were walking in the 6000 block of Bob Street in La Mesa late Friday afternoon, according to police.
When the driver began asking them “inappropriate” questions, the girls walked away, and he sped off to the north, Lt. Matt Nicholass said.
The children described the motorist as a well-dressed white man who appeared to be in his early 30s, with wavy brown hair, a mustache and a goatee. He was wearing black-framed eyeglasses and possibly a single earring, and was driving a gold, silver or gray older-model four-door sedan with a beige interior.
Similar incidents have occurred recently in San Diego, Nicholass said.
