Sheriff of San Diego County

A 50-year-old man was facing felony drunken driving charges Sunday after his passenger fell out of the bed of his moving pickup truck in San Marcos and suffered injuries to his face and hand.

The suspected drunken driver of a Dodge pickup truck was traveling in the 3200 block of Oleander Avenue, near Alamitos Way, at 7:45 p.m. Saturday when his passenger was ejected from the bed of the truck and landed in the roadway, sheriff’s Deputy Michael Gildersleeve said.

Medics took the injured passenger to Palomar Medical Center to be treated for facial lacerations and a fractured left hand, the deputy said. He was later released.

The driver was arrested and booked into the Vista Detention Facility on suspicion of causing injury while driving under the influence of alcohol, according to Gildersleeve. His name was not disclosed.
