A parolee wanted on an outstanding felony arrest warrant gave himself up after barricading himself in a motel room Tuesday afternoon with a woman and a 6-month-old child.
Chula Vista Police were called to the Goodnight Inn at 225 Bay Blvd. in Chula Vista at 2 p.m.
When they arrived, they saw Andre Jaques, 30, leave the room where arguing had been heard between a man and a woman. Jaques had walked out to his car, but ran back to the room when he saw police arriving.
Police knocked on the door and called the room, but there was no response. Police then obtained the pass key from the motel manager and tried to open the room, but the door had been barricaded from inside.
Several of the motel rooms were evacuated and Bay Boulevard was closed.
A check revealed that Jaques had a robbery warrant, prior convictions for assault and domestic violence and was on parole.
About 5 p.m., after special weapons team members had put an armored vehicle in front of the room and used a bullhorn to call Jaques out, he did so a half-hour later.
Jaques was arrested for the outstanding felony arrest warrant and is under investigation for other charges, including child endangerment.
