A man in the buff who said his name is Bruce is approaching women in a South Bay neighborhood and asking them for clothes before he disappears, according to police.

Authorities searching the areas where the incidents were reported were not able to locate the man, and the Chula Vista Police Department is seeking the public’s help in identifying a suspect in as many as three alleged incidents of indecent exposure occurring in the Winding Walk area of east Chula Vista. One victim says she encountered the nude man multiple times, according to police.

In the most recent incident, a woman told police she was taking a walk about 9 p.m. May 8 in the 2200 block of Trellis Street when a naked man jumped from behind bushes and asked her for clothing. The suspect ran away when a man walking his dogs approached.

The suspect is described as Hispanic, 16 to 20-years-old, 5′ 2″ to 5′ 4″ tall, 140 to 160 pounds, clean shaven, with brown eyes, and short, brown hair cut in a “bowl” style.

According to police, there have been other encounters with a man who matches the suspect’s description.

In another incident, a woman walking her dogs about 9:30 p.m. May 1 in the 2100 block of Kestrel Falls Road saw a naked man holding some clothing over his groin standing in a walkway leading to the  1600 block of Desert Springs. The woman told police she ignored his request for clothing, and he walked out of her sight. Moments later, however, he was in the bushes in the 1600 block of Texas Rainbow, now nude and fully exposed.

Police say the woman recognized the suspect as the same man who approached her and a friend days earlier at a community pool–naked and asking for clothes. She and her friend ignored the man in that incident, as well, and he left. He reappeared minutes later, according to the victim, fully clothed and asking to be admitted to the gated pool area. She told authorities the man said his name was Bruce, and that she didn’t report the incident because she thought he was drunk.

The Family Protection Unit is investigating the reports, and anyone with information is urged to call Detective Brent Glover at 619 691-5190, or the police department at 619-691-5151.
