A scruffy man robbed a bicyclist at knifepoint in an unincorporated area near El Cajon and was being sought by sheriff’s deputies Sunday.
The suspect pulled a knife with a 4- to 6-inch blade and demanded cash from the rider, who was headed home from a meeting shortly before 9:30 p.m. Saturday on Los Coches Road near Interstate 8, sheriff’s Sgt. Amber Baggs said.
The robber then ran off to the north, Baggs said.
Sheriff’s officials described the suspect as a possibly transient white man of about 40, who was about 6 feet tall and 165 pounds with blond and gray, shoulder length hair and a stubble beard. He was wearing a brown jacket and dark pants.
Baggs asked anyone with information on the robbery to call the sheriff’s department at (858) 565-5200, or Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
