A single-engine plane made a rough landing Friday at Gillespie Field after touching down without its landing gear.

The Cessna landed shortly before 7:30 p.m. and slid to a stop on the runway, said Monica Zech of Heartland Fire Rescue.

The male pilot, the plane’s sole occupant, was not injured, Zech said, adding that there was no fire and the plane sustained only minor damage.

The runway was closed until the plane was towed off the runway, she said.

The cause of the rough landing was under investigation.
