An unoccupied U-Haul truck parked near an Eastlake- area Border Patrol station prompted some evacuations and road closures Wednesday, until a bomb squad determined that it was not a threat.
Someone reported the abandoned U-Haul vehicle in the 2400 block of Boswell Road in Chula Vista about 7:30 a.m., according to police.
As a precaution, officers cleared people out of the immediate area and shut down adjacent traffic lanes while sheriff’s ordnance-handling personnel investigated. The team gave an all-clear about 10:30 a.m., police said.
