The drivers were all cited during a distracted-driving crackdown held from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, according to Chula Vista police.

Fifteen of the 75 were cited specifically for texting while driving, while the other 60 were cited for using their phones in some other manner, police said. Nine other citations were written for speeding and other moving violations, and one motorist was cited for driving with a suspended license.

“This was considered a successful operation,” police said in a statement. “The Chula Vista Police Department is continuing its efforts to keep our community safe by encouraging drivers to follow the rules of the road.”
