A 50-year-old man allegedly sneaked into a house in a rural canyon in a small settlement southwest of Alpine, opened fire on his former girlfriend and her current boyfriend, killed the man and wounded the woman.
The shooting was reported at 6:25 a.m.Sunday at 1525 S. Willson Road, sheriff’s officials said. The house is just off Dehesa Road, about midway between Harbison Canyon and Tavern Road.
Deputies arrived to the home to find family members performing CPR on Eufracio Alberto Enriquez, 35, and took over. But he died at the scene, sheriff’s Lt. Glenn Giannantonio said.
Leila Jane Farmer, 39, was taken to a hospital for treatment of gunshot wound to her arm, Giannantonio said. The wound was not beleived to be life- threatening.
Giannantonio said Farmer and Enriquez awoke to find Farmer’s ex- boyfriend, Abel Angel Martinez, inside the home. It was unclear how he gained entry.
Some words were exchanged and Martinez allegedly drew a handgun and shot Enriquez, then Farmer, Giannantonio said. He then drove off.
Martinez turned himself in at the Sheriff’s Alpine substation about four hours after the shooting. Giannantonio said Martinez would be booked into San Diego Central Jail for suspicion of murder and attempted murder.
