The robber — dubbed the “Scarecrow Bandit” because of his mask — entered the Chase Bank branch office at 7176 Avenida Encinas around 6 p.m. Thursday, according to Carlsbad police. He demanded cash from a teller and fled on foot with an undisclosed amount, police said in a statement, adding no weapon was seen.

In addition to the unusual mask, the robber wore mirrored sunglasses, a gray hooded sweatshirt with stripes and tan cargo-style pants, police said.

No one was injured.
