A 67-year-old man died at his rural Valley Center home in north San Diego County Thursday afternoon after being attacked by bees, authorities reported.
The Montanya Drive resident was working on the grounds of his property when the insects swarmed him shortly before 2 p.m., according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.
The man, whose name was not available, died at the scene despite medics’ lifesaving attempts, Lt. Dave Schaller said.
The county Medical Examiner’s Office was called in to take custody of the body for an autopsy.
